Tolkien Would Have Agreed With The Dentist

Help Desk, by Christopher B. Wright

Comic Transcript

ADALAI FOULE: It seems that the Boss poured a portion of his own power into the creation of Binky... and now that the paperclip is no longer here, the Boss has been harmed by its absence.

ALICE: You're kidding me.

ADALAI FOULE: I'm afraid not. His psyche is compensating for the loss by slowly turning him into a cheerful, winking paperclip.

ALICE: He's turning into Binky?

ADALAI FOULE: In a manner of speaking.

ADALAI FOULE: When you imbue an object with a piece of your own essence, there are often unintended side-effects. Especially if, as in the case of Binky, the object has a will of its own.

VIKTOR SCHRECK: Sow hat are we supposed to do now? Throw Binky into the heart of a volcano or something?

ADALAI FOULE: Only if you want the Boss to act like Binky on a permanent basis.

VIKTOR SCHRECK: ...right. Sorry. For a moment I forgot we were the villains.

ADALAI FOULE: I blame Postmodernism for that.
