ALEX: Ubersoft Technical Support, Alex speaking. how can I help you today?

CUSTOMER: My computer locked up. Can you help me get it working again?

ALEX: (Speaking) Certainly, sir. I'd be happy to help.

ALEX: (Thinking) Wait!

ALEX: (Thinking) Something's not right here. I wouldn't normally be happy to help ANYONE. Scott's absence must be starting to affect my judgement.

ALEX: (Thinking) Think: if Scott were here, what would he do?

(There is a popping sound, and an imaginary Scott shoulder-angel appears on Alex's shoulder.)

IMAGINARY SCOTT SHOULDER-ANGEL: Tell me a little bit about your computer so I can help you diagnose the problem. Let's get started!

ALEX: I'm going to have to put you on hold for a few hours.

IMAGINARY SCOTT SHOULDER-ANGEL: That's not what I said!
